OUR HISTORY

summ.it Accounting Solutions Limited was formed in 2000 by Stephen Dunbar born out of the  thinking that SME’s of a variety of sizes and requirements had little in terms of options for good quality finance department solutions, other than the traditional routes of employment, or expensive use of traditional high street accounting practices not geared up for the commercial requirements of  an industry need.

summ.it  offers a perfect hybrid approach which sits neatly between an in-house finance department  and an off site accountancy practice.  As our successful alternative to the traditional approaches  saw our client base begin to grow the replication of outsourced IT support services was launched as a natural fit to the accounts service offering.

In 2003 with the advances in technology, the development of the internet and associated forms of connectivity the Mauritius back office was launched (see below). In 2004 summ.it developed its IT offering, headed up by Neil Smith. The company continued to grow from strength to strength and in 2013 saw the additional outsourced service offering to SME’s of HR & Training support services as a natural fit to the business and a merger with HR Assist Limited (formed in 2006 by Jayne Sanderson-Brown) was completed and the change in  structure and name of the business to summ.it Assist LLP took place.

We have grown to a team of over 30 with offices in Manchester, Castleton and Mauritius and  we serve over 100 clients across the UK across 5 divisions and are continuing to grow from strength to strength. We have a culture of creating a flexible and enjoyable workplace for talented people and match these with ambitious clients who care about having efficient best practice accounting, HR and IT systems.

WHY MAURITIUS?

Mauritius is a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean just off the South East coast of Africa. The island has a population of just over 1.2m and is both an English and French speaking nation.

With an excellent service culture, a time zone difference of +3/4 hours and adoption of the UK syllabus of the ACCA training syllabus this presented an ideal location in which to open a back up support office to  the UK accounting service offering in place.

 

In 2003 the office was opened just outside the captial city of Port Louis and now employs 6 staff headed up by 2 qualified ACCA members, Faatimah & Naziah.

 

The Mauritius office provides support to the UK clients primarily with payroll, book-keeping, management accounts production and year-end statutory accounts and tax compliance services.
